Current Projects
•Canned Food Drive: Students are asked to bring in any sort of nonperishable food items to their homerooms. These items are distributed to local food pantries that are desperate for food at this time. The homeroom that brings in the most cans will be rewarded with a breakfast party.
•World's Finest Chocolate: Students will be selling chocolate bars as the Beta fundraiser for the year. They'll sell in January.
•Initiation: New members are to dress up from the November 17 to November 24 for initiation week. All Betas are to dress up on November 24 for the initiation ceremony.
Membership Benefits
For us, the students: membership cards, certificates, Beta pins, and access to The National Beta Club website (accessible only by members), and $250,000 in scholarships annually.
Achievement
Recognizing and honoring high academic achievement.
Character
Preparing young people for life and empowering them to be successful.
Leadership
Developing the leaders of tomorrow.
Service
Demonstrating our motto "Let Us Lead By Serving Others."
So now you may be asking yourself, "How could I be a Beta?"
Easy.
•Be at least a sophomore at Harriman High School.
•Have at least a 92 cumulative average & keep it for your first year; after that, you have to keep a 90 or above.
•Get involved. Beta is all about the community service. Each year, every member must complete at least 25 hours of community service, whether you go to convention or not.
& now you're wondering what convention is...
Beta Convention is a three-day trip in the spring with tons of other Beta clubs there. The purpose of the convention is to elect our State Beta Officers. We listen to their speeches, watch their skits, and vote on the president, vice president, secretary, & tressurer that we belive would do the best job. It's held at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville.
