Family and Consumer Science plans Individualized Fitness

Mrs. Ruffner, Family and Consumer Science teacher at HHS, believes that students need to be aware of the health benefits of a regular aerobic activities as well as eating healthy. Regular physical activity can help control blood lipid abnormalities, diabetes, obesity, and reduce blood pressure.
The project she is offering her students will encourage students, through reward, to walk between 8,000 and 10,000 steps per day for the rest of the semester. Each student will be given a pedometer to use for the duration of the project as a means to accurately record the step count. Each student will be monitoring their own steps and food intake during the project and measuring their success on an individual basis.
Fitness participantsStudents participating in this event are Amanda Barry, Anthony Boggs, Shanna Brooks, Tara Clark, Emily Crabtree, Kristen Delozier, Heather Matheson, Amber Murphy, Mark Peters, and Brittani Reed.
