Join us for this public evening event at Harriman High School. Benno Kimmelman will speak about his mother, Holocaust Survivor Mira Ryczke Kimmelman, and her enduring legacy in East Tennessee.
Mira Ryczke Kimmelman was born on Sept. 17, 1923, in Zoppot, Poland. She went first to the ghettos in Warsaw and Tomaszów Mazowiecki, then to the concentration camps Blizyn, Majdanek, and Auschwitz, and on a death march to Bergen-Belsen. Mira became a resident of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and lectured widely in schools about her experiences during the Holocaust. She is the author of two books: Echoes from the Holocaust: A Memoir and Life beyond the Holocaust: Memories and Realities.
